Diabetes, Insulin and Vitamin C

diabetes, insulin, vitamin cCould the same vitamin that many turn to in hopes of fending off the common cold also hold hope for diabetics?

Results of a new study by researchers at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center sheds new light on the disease fighting role of Vitamin C and possible other antioxidants too.

The newest research focused on whether Vitamin C can help prevent the long-term health problems face by many diabetics.

Don't run right out an stock up on Vitamin C. OU researchers stress the Vitamin C used in their study was given at very high doses and administered directly into the bloodstream. So it is unlikely you would get similar results with an over-the-counter vitamin supplement.

The team is affiliated with the Harold Hamm Oklahoma Diabetes Center.  Their findings appear in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
